To remember...

There are times I just want to remember something funny the boys said or did. This is one of those times!!! Here are a couple funny things the boys do/say lately:

Landon (age 5):

He has really been using his imagination more, which is pretty cute. The interesting thing, though, is last night he was pretending he was playing Transformer video games. And he was pretty much on target for what it was like to play and what it might be like if it was a Transformer game. The crazy thing - this kid never plays video games! I mean, he plays on the computer some and I recently got out my old (very old) Nintendo Gameboy and he's played Tetris a few times (I mean few)...but to actually use a controller the way he was pretending to use one, and talking about how the game would go - not sure where he got that! It was pretty cute...especially to hear him tell Austin "no, just sit here and watch me play this game" as they were staring at a book resting on the wall! LOL!! It is fun to watch his imagination grow...and to see him bring the twins along with him! Priceless!

Austin (age 2):

Austin is really good at telling us how he did something or how something happened. They love to recreate things that they just did, or he will tell Dave or I something that he did or talked about with the other.

For example, last night he woke up a few times in the night (4 to be exact) calling/crying for me. Nothing was wrong - I'm thinking maybe he's dreaming more and waking up and just not sure why he was up, and then having trouble going back to sleep. But the cute thing was listening to him tell Dave after breakfast what happened. It went something like this:

Austin to Dave: "I cried for mommy last night."

Dave: "You did? Why?"

Austin (holding up 4 fingers): "I cried for mommy 4 times. I wanted to go downstairs but mommy said no."

Dave: "Really? Did you need something?"

Austin: "No. Just a hug."

Of course, his words were slightly different, but you get the gist. He told it just how it happened...the first time I came in he wanted to go downstairs and I told him it was the middle of the night and everyone was sleeping. He asked for a hug (cute) and then laid back down. The next 2 times he pretty much wanted a hug, needed a Kleenex and his pillow flipped over. The last time, it was just a hug. Pretty sweet...melt my heart for sure, those middle of the night hugs!

He also tells us a lot that he will do things "when he gets bigger and bigger!" :-)

Aiden (age 2):

This boy has a vocabulary. I'm sure part of it is having an older brother, so hearing different things and seeing older shows on TV. Sometimes I can't believe the way Aiden tells me things or the words he uses. For example, he's used the word "Marvelous" a lot - that one I really don't know where it came from! I use the word awesome a little too much and I've heard him say that, but marvelous? Not really sure.

The other thing he has done - he loves playing with Landon, but as a first born, Landon's starting to get bossy. (I would know - I'm a first born - ha!) So I will notice he does a lot of organizing and directing. Most of the time, the boys are all about that. Well, on Saturday Aiden and Landon were playing in the kitchen. All of a sudden, Aiden walks into the family room, kind of pouting and tells me:

Aiden: "I not playing with Landon." (arms crossed)

Me: "Really? Why not?"

Aiden: "'Cause he's bossing me and I don't want to do that." (smile)

Pretty cute! Oh - and he also says "I cannot" to things instead of "I can't". That's very cute, too!

Just wanting to remember...

Recent Conversations

I want to make sure I don't forget some fun things the boys have said recently...

Landon:
*Last night before bed, he started telling me about some dreams he's had. I just listened, smiled and nodded and here's (basically) what he told me:
-"Sometimes I don't remember my dreams, but Mommy? I remember dreaming about a lot of animals. Like bears, and rabbits and cats and giraffes...I was just watching them all in the jungle but then I was an animal. I don't know which one, but I was one. (insert his big eyes and nodding head looking at me) But mommy, I woke up and didn't finish that dream but maybe one day I will. I wanted to dream about fire trucks but I haven't had that dream yet. But mommy, sometimes I dream about our whole family, like you, daddy, Austin, Aiden and me all in my dream at home. Maybe tonight I will dream about dinosaurs. But sometimes, mommy, I have monsters in my dream. They are talking to me (insert big eyes staring at me) so that is okay."

It was pretty cute! It's fun to see him start to remember dreams and be able to share them with me. One thing I've noticed is that he's been a little more "scared" in his room. I think it's an age thing and the changes with going to school. One night he called me up because of shadows that looked like monsters in his closet, and the other night as I was tucking him in he said "I'm too scared to be in my room alone." He went to sleep fine - but something new I've noticed.

Aiden:
Aiden's big thing lately is to tell me anything and everything he is doing. He's really taking cues from Landon on imagination and telling me what he's playing. He's also great at telling me what we did the day before or what he did at school, beyond answering with a simple yes or no. A few of the things he tells me:
-"in my drink (while playing imaginary cooking) are strawberries...and....(pause while thinking) lemons!"
-upon remembering at dinner the night before Landon talking about his friend at school, Aiden says "James who goes by other name Jimmy" all on his own.
-Another new thing he (and Austin) both do is tell me they are going to go upstairs to get something and "I'll be right back, Mommy!"

Austin:
Austin is getting a little defiant lately and likes to tell me "me do it myself, mommy." he's also really big on saying "Okay mommy" or "Okay Daddy" to anything we ask him to do (well, most anything). His other favorite:
-when I come in his room each morning he tells me "me no bang my head like Aiden."
-Another favorite of his (and Aiden's too) is to ask "watch a movie, mommy?" while looking at me with puppy dog eyes, thinking it will help! :)

Just random conversations with my boys...cute! :)
