Recent Conversations

I want to make sure I don't forget some fun things the boys have said recently...

Landon:
*Last night before bed, he started telling me about some dreams he's had. I just listened, smiled and nodded and here's (basically) what he told me:
-"Sometimes I don't remember my dreams, but Mommy? I remember dreaming about a lot of animals. Like bears, and rabbits and cats and giraffes...I was just watching them all in the jungle but then I was an animal. I don't know which one, but I was one. (insert his big eyes and nodding head looking at me) But mommy, I woke up and didn't finish that dream but maybe one day I will. I wanted to dream about fire trucks but I haven't had that dream yet. But mommy, sometimes I dream about our whole family, like you, daddy, Austin, Aiden and me all in my dream at home. Maybe tonight I will dream about dinosaurs. But sometimes, mommy, I have monsters in my dream. They are talking to me (insert big eyes staring at me) so that is okay."

It was pretty cute! It's fun to see him start to remember dreams and be able to share them with me. One thing I've noticed is that he's been a little more "scared" in his room. I think it's an age thing and the changes with going to school. One night he called me up because of shadows that looked like monsters in his closet, and the other night as I was tucking him in he said "I'm too scared to be in my room alone." He went to sleep fine - but something new I've noticed.

Aiden:
Aiden's big thing lately is to tell me anything and everything he is doing. He's really taking cues from Landon on imagination and telling me what he's playing. He's also great at telling me what we did the day before or what he did at school, beyond answering with a simple yes or no. A few of the things he tells me:
-"in my drink (while playing imaginary cooking) are strawberries...and....(pause while thinking) lemons!"
-upon remembering at dinner the night before Landon talking about his friend at school, Aiden says "James who goes by other name Jimmy" all on his own.
-Another new thing he (and Austin) both do is tell me they are going to go upstairs to get something and "I'll be right back, Mommy!"

Austin:
Austin is getting a little defiant lately and likes to tell me "me do it myself, mommy." he's also really big on saying "Okay mommy" or "Okay Daddy" to anything we ask him to do (well, most anything). His other favorite:
-when I come in his room each morning he tells me "me no bang my head like Aiden."
-Another favorite of his (and Aiden's too) is to ask "watch a movie, mommy?" while looking at me with puppy dog eyes, thinking it will help! :)

Just random conversations with my boys...cute! :)

Big Day!

Warning - this is a picture heavy post! But...you only start kindergarten once! :)

This week has been a big one at our house...Landon Robert started kindergarten on Monday! It's so hard to believe that he is 5 and his school journey is starting. Seems like just yesterday he was a little baby...then a toddler...and now kindergarten. Time sure flies and we are so proud of him. He was ready! Here is our journal for the day...

It all starts with a good breakfast...oatmeal! Landon being silly...

Aiden was doing a great job eating his and so happy!

And Austin was hungry, too! Say Cheese! :)

Then it was picture time...here are Landon and Mommy! Such a big boy!

And Landon and Daddy...don't they look so much alike? And I think Landon looks so much older in this picture...wow!

We had to get a standing up shot so we can see how tall Landon is getting!

Austin wanted his picture taken, too...here's Austin and Mommy.

And Austin with Daddy...doesn't he look like a little boy (not a toddler) in this picture?

Aiden wasn't interested in the group pictures, but he was brushing his teeth like a champ!

And here are some of my favorite pictures...Landon's photo shoot before we headed out to school! He was being so silly and it was so cute! We'd been talking about "going to kindergarten" for so long I think he was ready!
Because of my work schedule, and his school day starting later (8:50 a.m.), Landon will go to before school care at his school. Once we get settled, it will be for about an hour each day...but this week I've been taking him a little later. So far, both days he has done great and not had any reservations...just normal hesitation in a new place.
It was a long day waiting for this site...but here comes the bus!!!
And here comes Landon...around the front...
He's home...yippee!!!

Time to show us his first projects...they learned about yellow and blue!!!
All in all it seemed like he had a great day! He was great when I dropped him off, he talked a lot about his school day and recess! And his main comment about the bus ride was "it was long." (Note - he should get home by 4:15 - but it was 4:50 on the first day! I guess there was a mix-up with kids getting on the wrong bus, so things were very delayed! Yikes!)
Some of Landon's comments about the day:
*We got to play outside a LONG time!
*I sat by Steven at lunch.
*I liked making a yellow and blue book at school.
*I drank all my chocolate milk at lunch! At this school, we get to choose!
*There was an eraser in my cup at my table.
Thoughts from a 5 year old! Way to go Landon...we are so proud of you!!! It's going to be a great year!!

Slide

We were lucky when we bought this house last year that it had a playset. It was worth the extra money we paid the previous owners to have a wonderful place for the boys to play. They love it...especially the curly slide! Unfortunately it's been so hot lately and the boys have been sick, so we haven't been out in a while...but here are a few photos from a couple weeks ago!
Wheeeee...

Here comes Landon!

And now it's Austin's turn!!!

Aiden loves it, too!

A Day of Hope

Back to routine

4th of July 2010

Things are changing at our house...Austin and Aiden are back at daycare and next week...it's a big milestone...Landon starts kindergarten! How can our baby be 5 and headed off to school? One nice thing about our daycare has been that it's in a school building, so Landon is already very familiar with school facilities, eating in the cafeteria, different grades, etc. I think he's getting excited for the first day...I can't wait to post about it next week!

Austin and Aiden had a great start to their year at daycare...until day #5. Then the fever hit. That's right - they made it one week at daycare and then spent 4 days (6 total - a weekend was in there) sick! High fevers and then a rash. What a way to start the year! Today they went back for the first time, so hopefully they've had a good day!

These days I'm hearing "mommy" a lot. Lots of attention needed and I love it. Sometimes it's tough when they all want me to listen...but it's so precious to hear them say "Mommy." Austin likes to answer everything I tell him with an "Okay mommy." Aiden likes to say "mommy...mommy...mommy...mommy..." until I listen to him talk. And Landon seems to have a knack for saying "mommy" or "Mom" the second that Dave starts talking to me! Those are just some of the funny ways they are using "mommy" these days!

I need to start posting more pictures on here and will try to put up some picture posts soon. At this point, I'm just trying to post a bit more often so I can remember some of the cute things they are doing.

More to come...

Cute Landon

The boys say so many funny things these days...hopefully I can try to remember to capture some of them here!

This past weekend, we had a really good watermelon and enjoyed it for dinner both Saturday and Sunday night. All the boys love it...but especially Landon! He even said at dinner last night it was his favorite fruit! :) So you can imagine he ate a ton of it!

Saturday night, about 11:00 pm - I heard a noise out in the hall and wondered what it was. It was Landon in the bathroom going potty. It surprised me because he NEVER goes in the night without coming to get me! He can - he just doesn't. I went in there, helped him back to bed and all was fine. He seemed so so awake and kind of remembered in the morning.

Sunday night - about 10:00 pm I see his bathroom light on, go in there, and he again is going potty. This is the boy who rarely, even when potty training, ever goes potty in the night! I walk in and see the seat is down and he has gone potty all over. It's instantly clear that he is NOT awake. Except for the mess...that is easy enough to clean up...it is very cute!

So, I walk him back to his bedroom, tuck him in and our conversation is short and sweet...very sweet:

Me: "I love you, Landon"
Landon: "I love you, too"
Me: "Sleep good"
Landon: "I love you, too"

That boy was out of it! I think I heard him breathing heavy before I even got back to his door. So adorable!!
