Long Night!

This will probably be boring to most - I just wanted to document our night last night!

I really can't complain...all 3 boys are really very good sleepers. Aiden has always been our "head banger" - but normally we hear him, then he stops and is sound asleep again. And he will go nights without making a sound.

Last night - not so much. I wanted to document it because a couple cute things happen...and I also wanted to remind myself that 99.99999% of the time, all 3 sleep great! Today, though - I am running on about 2 hours sleep. Yes, 2 hours. I don't think that has happened in, well I can't remember when.

So, about 10:15 we start hearing Aiden. Some head banging, some humming...nothing unusual. But by 11:15, he was still going at it and Austin started crying. Most of the time he sleeps through Aiden's noises, but not this time. So, I made a couple trips in there to try to encourage Aiden to stop...no luck.

I say to Dave - "if Austin cries again, I will offer them a drink of water." Well, no crying, but next thing I know they are chit chatting wtih each other! It was so cute and went something like this (about 11:30 p.m.):

Austin: "Aiden, no bang head."
Aiden: "Yes Austin."
Austin, a little louder: "Aiden no bang head, La La (meaning Landon) sleeping"
Aiden, in a whisper: "No bang head, be quiet, Landon sleeping."

It went on a bit and was so darn cute.

Next: I bring in the water - they each get a drink, seem calm, I head down to the couch (so Dave can sleep peacefully! :)) and wait. I just settle in...and the head banging starts again. On and off...on and offf...I probably made 5 trips atleast in there to move Aiden around, get them calmed down, etc.

Then I decide - they hadn't gotten their book before bed (since they didn't pick up for the 3rd time that day) - so let's try a book. More water, and we read "The Hungry Catepiller" in semi-darkness. They were both calm and content and I think "okay - now they will sleep." This was probably around 12:30 or 1:00 (I lost track of time for a while).

No such luck...next thing I know I realize their door is opening and Austin is walking out!! This is the first time he has ever done that!!! He did that 2 more times before Aiden finally fell asleep sometime around 1:30.

After that, let's just say every time I would think "Austin's asleep, let me lay down on the couch now" I would doze off only to hear their door opening again! I think in total I made 15 or so trips up the stairs into their room between 11:30 and 3:30. Austin only cried right there eraly on - poor guy just couldn't sleep. Oh - and at 2:08 I even brought him downstairs for water and to sit on the couch for a bit.

Finally at 3:30, he came out of his room again and Dave was awake. He went to his room and slept on the floor the rest of the night! Crazy boy!

Oh - and about 2:30 I hear Austin in there trying to wake up Aiden. This went on like this:

"Aiden...wake up. Aiden and La La...come back...wake up."

At that point, Landon decided to wake up. He came out saying "I think I have to go to the bathroom" and I'm sure he just heard the noise. He was up again right before 3:00...so they were all a bit restless!

So, I don't really know what the deal was - I guess they are getting older and that will happen! I feel like I had a night with newborns...although I didn't really doze for very long in between - I was just awake until after 3:30! Hopefully today is a quick one!

Aiden

And of course....last but certianly NOT least...it's Aiden's turn!

Aiden
*Our "youngest" twin (only by 5 minutes), the baby of the family...you are also 2 and a half years old! Seems like just yesterday you were born!
*You are sensitive. You don't like it when your brothers are hurt or upset. Especially when at daycare - they would tell us that if Austin wasn't listening or was in trouble, you would always try to help or make it better.
*You love to make us laugh. Your facial expressions crack me up - especially when you realize you did something funny - you almost look shy and will smile big and look up to the sky with your eyes. It's so sweet!

*You are sleeping in your big boy bed now!! No more crib! You were filling the crib up, so we knew it was time! You have always been one to bang your head as a soothing technique, but I think getting a big boy bed and big pillow has helped!! You take great naps in your bed each day and sleep very well at night. You have fallen out of bed 3 times...but you always give me a hug, get back in bed and go right back to sleep!
*You love to read books. Sometimes after dinner or on a weekend, we will sit and read book after book. And I love to watch you read books on your own - a lot of times I will hear you telling the story just like you were reading it.

*You don't want to miss anything your brothers are doing, so you tend to be a follower. You can be working on something and then realize they have left the room and you're off. You try really hard to pull trains like Landon, or dance around like Landon...it's very cute.
*You love to be outside. If you think that is what we are doing, you get so excited! You love to go down the slide in our pool and jump in and out. You have done a great job and been so brave in the pool - jumping right back in or going right back down the slide if you go under water.

*I love when you ask me to "help mommy". If I come quickly, all is good. If I am a little slow in responding, you get a little agitated, but as soon as I say "ask nicely" - you calm back down. I love when you ask me for help.
*You also love to color. You're funny - you will sometimes color one little line or box on a page and say "done mommy" and want a new one. But if I can get you to color on a page longer, you will scribble all over it and fill it up! You make me laugh!

*You have such a sweet look when you do something you know was right or good. For example, if you are learning how to do something new and you figure it out...and you know I saw you, your face just looks so proud. Or if I have asked you to pick up...your face is priceless when you know you are doing something the right way. I love your sweet looks!
*You love to eat! There are a few things you don't like...but most things you will try. You love fruit, especially fresh pineapple and strawberries. You also love red grapes, yogurt and popcorn puffs, so name a few.

*I love watching you learn. You have been a talker for a while now and just this summer you are really putting longer sentences together. I am amazed each day when you tell me a full sentence about something you did that day - proper grammer and everything! You are so smart!
*I can't decide yet if you will be left or right handed! For months, you ate or colored or did most things with your left hand. But just this week I've been watching you color and it's been all right handed. You like to keep me guessing! :)
*You love, love, love juice! You are great about drinking milk at meals, but sometimes about 10 minutes after breakfast you are already asking for juice!!! We mix it with water but I've learned that if you see me put water in it first, you get frustrated, but if you see juice first, then water, you are okay! I love to watch you get excited about a splash of juice! :)

*You don't snuggle with me as much as you used to...but you have always been a snuggler. Sometimes after your nap you will just sit on my lap and I love it. I love to hear you say "mommy lap?" with a big question mark at the end like "can I please sit on your lap?" So special!
*You have just started to tell us (so far just your daddy) "I love you" and give a hug without us saying it first. How special!

*You are a pleaser! Most of the time, you jsut go with the flow. If you pick the yellow bowl but one of your brothers would rather have it, you will usually give it to them and take something else. I will try to manage that as you continue to grow so you don't always have to give stuff up! I love watching you care for your brothers!
*I love watching you grow into a little boy!
*I love you, my Aiden-bug!

Austin

Now it's Austin's turn! :)

Austin

*The "oldest" twin, our "middle" child...you are already 2 and a half years old! Where does the time go?

*Just this summer, you have began talking up a storm! I still have a hard time understanding all of it, but so far you are very patient. If I don't understand and ask you to tell me again, you will say "no mommy" and calmly repeat what you are trying to tell me!
*Your eyes are still so blue - I love looking into them! They are just huge and so expressive!
*You love to give hugs! I love to feel your arms over my shoulders, or see you give daddy a big hug!

*Your smile is still just as expressive as the pictures above! You smile with your whole face!
*You are a little stinker! :) You know when you are not supposed to do something...like push or hit your brother...but you will look us right in the eye and do it anyway!!! It's aggrivating and adorable all at the same time!

*You are now in your big boy bed! You sleep by the window and sometimes in the summer the sun shines in on your pillow! If I don't catch it and move you down, it makes you so mad! You will call me crying saying "sun sun sun". I suppose I would not like the sun in my eyes either!

*You won't take naps in your big boy bed...silly boy! As soon as you gained that freedom, there is no looking back! Bed time is fine - luckily! Naps - no go! That's playtime in your eyes! And if you can, you keep Aiden awake, too!

*You have always been the smallest...our little peanut! That doesn't stop you from keeping up with all your brothers are doing!
*You love trains! Not as much as Landon...but you do love to drive them around.
*You love picking out your own clothes...and I better not dare put you in something you don't want! Your favorite shirts right now are: Lightening McQueen, Cat in the Hat, any Thomas shirt...or anything YOU pick out for yourself!
*You like to watch some TV, but rarely ask for it. Although this summer, for about 2 weeks, you constantly asked to watch "Caillou, Caillou." Not sure why you always said it twice but it was cute!

*You love to go down the curly slide. You love to be outside.
*You also love to color...especially with markers. You have a similar way about you as Landon did at this age - really focusing on the page you are working on, trying to color in the lines.
*You love tractors...any kind. If it's daddy's ride on lawn mower, Grandpa's gator or any tractor you see, you want to sit on it and "drive" it. If we open the shed, you have a one track mind!

*You are a good eater. You can be picky...you know you don't like cherry tomatoes or brocolli to name a few...but almost anything we give you you will eat. You are a slower eater than your brothers...and sometimes will eat your dessert before you're done...but you will almost always clean your plate!
*I love watching you climb into bed, give us a kiss and hug and lay down on your pillow. You always close your eyes when you first lay down...so sweet!
*I love you, Austin-bug!

Landon

Again, just when I think I will stay on top of it, the days slip by and I haven't put up a new post! Hopefully I can get some pictures on here, but I wanted to jot down a few things each of the boys have been doing. First, we'll start with the biggest boy...

Landon
*You're favorite color is red if you answer withouth thinking, but then you immediately say "but I like all the colors."

*You still love fruit - just about any kind - especially grapes and strawberries.

*You are 5 now and headed to kindergarten soon. How can that be? You are still my baby and yet you are such a big boy!

*You love to do your worksheets with daddy out of your kindergarten to first grade summer workbook. I hear you remind him multiple times each day that you can't forget! You have always loved to learn!

*You are a great big brother, teach Austin and Aiden so many things! Sometimes it's how to yell no at the top of your lungs - but you are teaching them so many wonderful things!

*You are a good sleeper! Rarely do you come out of your room at bedtime...and lately you've been sleeping in until 7:00 a.m. or after! Usually!
*You are a tv watcher! Now, if we don't turn it to something you like to watch, you will rarely ask to watch it, but once it gets on your shows - it's hard to get your attention away from the tv. Some favorites right now: Scooby-do, Thomas, Pink Panther, Tom and Jerry, Toy Story movie.

*You are a thinker...I love to tell you something new, or something we are going to do in a few days and watch your mind go to work. You have such a sweet, serious look and I can almost watch as you process what I am telling you. And I love when the questions start...
*You still love trains and will still play with your Thomas collection. You don't play with them as often, but you still love trains - pictures, books, just about anything related to trains.
*You love to ride your bike. It's green and fast and you ride it so well. Soon we will take off the training wheels, but you love to ride it fast and stop real quick to make the black marks on the driveway. I love when you call for me to come look at what you did!

*You make daddy laugh most nights when you ask me to carry you up to bed! You are pretty tall...and getting heavy...but most of the time I will still carry you or let you ride on my back. I'm quickly realizing that this will come to an end...sooner than later.
*You also love to give me lots of kisses at bed time...it's so sweet. You will kiss my cheeks, eyes, chin, neck, forhead and top of my head...oh, and sometimes my ears! Makes me giggle every time!

*I just love you, Landon-bug!!
