This will probably be boring to most - I just wanted to document our night last night!
I really can't complain...all 3 boys are really very good sleepers. Aiden has always been our "head banger" - but normally we hear him, then he stops and is sound asleep again. And he will go nights without making a sound.
Last night - not so much. I wanted to document it because a couple cute things happen...and I also wanted to remind myself that 99.99999% of the time, all 3 sleep great! Today, though - I am running on about 2 hours sleep. Yes, 2 hours. I don't think that has happened in, well I can't remember when.
So, about 10:15 we start hearing Aiden. Some head banging, some humming...nothing unusual. But by 11:15, he was still going at it and Austin started crying. Most of the time he sleeps through Aiden's noises, but not this time. So, I made a couple trips in there to try to encourage Aiden to stop...no luck.
I say to Dave - "if Austin cries again, I will offer them a drink of water." Well, no crying, but next thing I know they are chit chatting wtih each other! It was so cute and went something like this (about 11:30 p.m.):
Austin: "Aiden, no bang head."
Aiden: "Yes Austin."
Austin, a little louder: "Aiden no bang head, La La (meaning Landon) sleeping"
Aiden, in a whisper: "No bang head, be quiet, Landon sleeping."
It went on a bit and was so darn cute.
Next: I bring in the water - they each get a drink, seem calm, I head down to the couch (so Dave can sleep peacefully! :)) and wait. I just settle in...and the head banging starts again. On and off...on and offf...I probably made 5 trips atleast in there to move Aiden around, get them calmed down, etc.
Then I decide - they hadn't gotten their book before bed (since they didn't pick up for the 3rd time that day) - so let's try a book. More water, and we read "The Hungry Catepiller" in semi-darkness. They were both calm and content and I think "okay - now they will sleep." This was probably around 12:30 or 1:00 (I lost track of time for a while).
No such luck...next thing I know I realize their door is opening and Austin is walking out!! This is the first time he has ever done that!!! He did that 2 more times before Aiden finally fell asleep sometime around 1:30.
After that, let's just say every time I would think "Austin's asleep, let me lay down on the couch now" I would doze off only to hear their door opening again! I think in total I made 15 or so trips up the stairs into their room between 11:30 and 3:30. Austin only cried right there eraly on - poor guy just couldn't sleep. Oh - and at 2:08 I even brought him downstairs for water and to sit on the couch for a bit.
Finally at 3:30, he came out of his room again and Dave was awake. He went to his room and slept on the floor the rest of the night! Crazy boy!
Oh - and about 2:30 I hear Austin in there trying to wake up Aiden. This went on like this:
"Aiden...wake up. Aiden and La La...come back...wake up."
At that point, Landon decided to wake up. He came out saying "I think I have to go to the bathroom" and I'm sure he just heard the noise. He was up again right before 3:00...so they were all a bit restless!
So, I don't really know what the deal was - I guess they are getting older and that will happen! I feel like I had a night with newborns...although I didn't really doze for very long in between - I was just awake until after 3:30! Hopefully today is a quick one!
