More Random December

Before I get into Christmas activities, I have some random pictures, most from my phone, that I don't necessarily know the date on all of them, but I want to remember them. Might be boring to some - most are pictures of sick kids - but since this is mainly my "journal" of our family, I want to remember just how the holiday season went. Even with all the sickness, we still had fun! But it was a LONG month of December!

Aiden has been trying so hard on his coloring! I posted this picture to Facebook, but I was so proud of him! He started this reindeer at school one day, and immediately wanted to finish it at home! Took him all evening one day, but he worked hard and got it all colored! Nice job, Aiden! I'm so proud!

One evening the boys had fun with Landon's gun and shooting range that he got last year for Christmas! I just thought these pictures were fun! Go Landon!

Aiden kind-of tried to shoot - he really wasn't getting the whole aim thing! :)

Austin really gets into it!

Seemed like the boys colored a lot in December! Especially if they knew they could sit at the island!

This morning Aiden was being silly with his rubber duck. I do remember this date - Friday, December 9th. I was scheduled to go into Landon's classroom and volunteer. Aiden had seemed fine that morning, but just as I arrived at school with Landon, Dave called - daycare had called and Aiden had gotten sick at school already. So....I walked Landon into school and talked to his teacher and unfortunately had to miss helping in his class that day. I booked it over to pick up the twins....

....and here is how he ended up that day. No more throwing up, but he was not hungry and his fever started to spike. So this was actually before the Santa pictures when Austin got sick. This is when it all started...poor Aiden!

Austin was great that day and just played nice and quiet so I could focus on Aiden. Note - it had been pajama day at school, which worked out well since we just relaxed all day!

I believe this was that same night - or that weekend at least. He slept on the couch most of the night with me - he was just not comfortable with his fever and such. This was the first weekend that we missed Christmas with my family! Everyone was so understanding (thanks guys...even though we ended up missing the next weekend, too! Thank you!)

Poor sick little boy! :(

We had lots of play time on blankets in December for some reason...

One day Landon called me up to his room and was showing me his moves! I thought it was pretty cool I caught him mid-air!!!

It's hard to tell, but Austin had to get in on the action!

One morning the boys were just chilling on the couch!

Breakfast like a picnic - always fun!

This was the next weekend...the weekend of December 17th and they started going down hill again - both of the twins! Austin spent a lot of time cuddled up to me!

And Aiden spent a lot of time looking like this...so sad!

This morning we were supposed to go have Christmas with my family again...and both boys had little fevers...and remained sick most of the next week. Boo :(

I'm glad December is over - it was a long month of sickness around here! Landon had one weekend with a little fever but luckily he did not miss any school. I had a cold twice and Dave got it right over Christmas. At this moment - January 10th - we are all healthy except for slight cough Aiden developed last night. Time will tell what the rest of winter will bring...my fingers are crossed!

Sick Friday

So, on Friday, May 27th, the twins were home with me. Luckily Landon was able to go back to school - but he was pretty worn out when he got home! I'm glad it was the weekend after that!

But the twins and I hung out at home and tried to have a lazy day. It's hard to convince two 3 year olds that they need rest - but they were pretty low key anyway! It was day filled with temperature checks, medicines and breathing treatments...

...and also some train playing! Actually - they wanted the train track and trains, but the funny thing is - they didn't play on the track with trains! These two love Hot Wheel cars, so they were driving cars on the track! Each of them wanted their own track - so I built two - but then they ended up playing on the same one. Of course!

Then we did have some quiet time!

And we went out on the deck for a bit to look at the pretty flowers!

Our rose bushes were just blooming at this point. I love the wet flowers!

Then we had to play with cars in the train table while watching the movie Cars!

And of course - we had to have a bit more rest time! Aiden relaxing on the couch!

And Austin stretched out on his couch!

Luckily by Saturday evening, everyone was feeling better so we were able to enjoy a holiday weekend! :)

More sick boys

Seems like we stared the school year with sick kids and ended it with sick kids! On May 25th - luckily I was working at home because at 12:50 Landon's school called and he had been sick in class and had a fever. I felt so bad for him that he had been sick at school! :( Luckily I got to him within 15 minutes and got him home quickly. He didn't get sick again, but had a fever for about 2 days.

Then, on the 26th, Aiden woke up with some trouble breathing and threw up a touch - but luckily it wasn't a stomach bug. Landon was already home and knew Aiden had to be home - so Austin stayed home, too, which ended up being a good thing. I got Landon and Aiden appointments with the doctor - especially for Aiden's breathing - and right before we left I noticed Austin had a high fever! So off we went!

Here is what Aiden did that morning while waiting to leave for the doctor - he did not feel good! :(

Here are Landon and and Austin that morning - lots of quiet time. It was about this time I started thinking Austin had been pretty quiet!

The doctor agreed it was a virus - probably a strain like hand foot and mouth, but not actually that kind. Aiden got some treatments for his breathing and Landon got the green light it wasn't strep and he could go back to school the next day. She also checked Austin out, but he was doing pretty good at that point.

Well, as the day went on he went down hill. Aiden perked up a bit with the breathing treatments and meds, but Austin was crashing. Mid afternoon - fever over 101. But by 5pm - his fever spiked to 105. Yes, I said 105!! Luckily with meds and a nap it broke and didn't spike that high again. I just hate fevers!

Here's Austin when his fever was the highest - that is so hard on their little bodies!

It was a long evening worrying, but that night all 3 boys slept pretty well, all things considered.

Sick Week

The week after Easter was the first time in a long time we had sick kids. Landon was fine, but the week for the twins went like this:

Monday - both boys were home with me. Austin had a fever, Aiden was very congested. They actually had a pretty good day just playing! Especially when I brought down some toys they hadn't played with in a while!

Aiden was cracking me up - he was playing with a mug and all of a sudden says "look mom, I'm drinking coffee!" So cute!

Austin was just chillin on the couch!

Relaxing with his pillow pet. You can tell he had a fever at this point - his little cheeks were so red!

And of course - Aiden fell asleep! This time by the fireplace!

Tuesday: Austin stayed home with me with another fever while Aiden went to school. He came home with this clown hat - isn't he cute?

Wednesday - Austin was still home with me. His main symptom was a fever - nothing else. I actually had to do some work on Tuesday and Wednesday - health coaching calls - and believe it or not, Austin was a trooper! He was annoyed with it by the end, but when my phone would ring, he would get quiet. It was cute!

He didn't have much of an appetite, but asked for a fun dip at one point. He sat with the fun dip dipper in his mouth for 30 minutes watching TV!

Silly sweet Austin!

On Thursday: Both boys were home with me. I had more coaching calls I had to do and with both of them home, I knew I needed some help! I didn't get any pictures, but Grandma Day was able to come and play with them while I did my calls. They even had a visit from Grandma and Grandpa Easterday that afternoon!

Finally on Friday, both boys went back to school and were feeling 100% better!!!

Sick day

March was a crazy work month for me...and I prayed all month that the boys would be healthy so Dave wouldn't have to miss work when I was out of town. We got lucky...Aiden was the only one who got sick and luckily the worst of it hit on a day I was supposed to be home. I had already planned to keep them home with me that day because I had been gone so much - so it worked out well...other than Aiden being sick. This was a Friday (3/25). Aiden is usually our ear kid...not our respiratory kid (like Austin). He had once in 2009 when he had breathing treatments, but that was it. This time - the cough and rapid breathing hit him Thursday evening. We went in on Friday and yep - he needed an antibiotic, steroid and breathing treatments. I felt bad - he had been rapidly breathing all night in his sleep - poor guy! Luckily the treatments kicked in pretty quickly and he got to feeling better! No fever at all! Here is Aiden taking his treatment! Even though he was sick, once he had a treatment or two, he was ready to move. Even the doctor said he seemed healthier than he sounded! That afternoon we took some time to make brownies while waiting for Landon to get home from school. They are excited! Austin working hard...notice his tongue! Aiden's turn...notice his tongue! They concentrate in a similar way! Gotta have sprinkles! And more sprinkles! Then Aiden was worn out...I was so glad he fell asleep! As usual - he can sleep anywhere! Once Landon was home, Austin and Landon enjoyed a brownie! Thumbs up! While Aiden just kept sleeping!!!
