Aiden

Look at that sweet face - he was so proud of his pumpkin! This was a few weeks ago when we picked pumpkins at Grandpa Day's house (post on that to come) and with 11 grand kids, we draw numbers for the kids. Aiden was number 1, so he wasn't so sure about everyone watching him and waiting for their turn. He turned around and had this sweet smile - it was adorable!

Anyway - Aiden has a ton of congestion this week and I was up with him a few times in the night. For some reason, I was thinking about something he did/said a week or so ago and I wanted to document it. The twins are 2 and a half, so they are at that age where they COULD learn to go potty in the potty. Well, just like Landon - they are NOT interested. Neither one of them! I thought Aiden would be months ago, but no...such...luck. There are days I would love to be done with diapers, but since I know these are the last diapers we will have - I'm okay with it taking longer. Just don't tell Dave that...he is way beyond ready!

Back to the story...usually I put them on the potty before bath time but I've never had luck with either of them actually going potty. Aiden usually "tries" and I can tell that he does - but has never gotten anything out. So one day, I had done that and nothing - so I put him in the bath. I stepped out into the hallway to get their wash cloths and I hear Aiden say - in his I'm a big boy, aren't you proud of me voice - "Me pee in a cup!" Yes, that is what he said.

I come around the corner and he is just smiling big and so proud of himself for sitting in the bath and peeing in a cup. I hated to burst his bubble - but I also wanted to remind him that we don't pee in the bath tub and certainly not in that cup. I just looked at him and our conversation went something like this:

Me: "Aiden (kind of drawn out)...are we supposed to pee in a cup?"
Aiden: smile fades (broke my heart) and he shakes his head
Me: "Where are we supposed to pee before bath?"
Aiden: "in the potty"
Me: "that's right - we'll try again tomorrow, okay?"
Aiden: "Okay...but me pee in a cup" (big smile!!!)

He's a funny little boy...and I love him!
