Strange Day

Monday, July 11th - seemed like a normal day. I went to work and the boys played outside.

Landon

Aiden

Aiden showing Dave something.

More fun with brothers.

There goes Aiden and Landon.

Just exploring! I love the corn in the background.

Then that evening, it was time to play in the pool! It was another hot one. Please look past the murky, rusty well water - but here is Aiden practicing putting his ears in the water! Good job, Aiden!

Landon's turn - way to go! So brave - LOL!

Austin gave it a try, too, but wasn't so sure. But good job!

That evening, the boys had just gone to bed and it started seeming like it would storm. We were sitting on the couch and the lightening and thunder was pretty close...and we noticed some wind, but wind out in the country is common. For maybe 10-15 seconds, we had some serious wind and that was it.

A little bit later, Dave looked outside and there was siding in the yard, and then we realized it was in the corn field, too! I thought something was in our front yard and a little bit later we noticed water coming in the chimney - sure enough, the chimney cap had blown off, too! We had to wait about an hour for the lightening to stop, so about 10:30 pm we were outside trying to get all our siding back!

See the long piece of siding in the corn?

More siding in the yard...

We had a few pieces missing...

Notice our glass table top on the ground - this blew off it's base and flew up and over the railing. Amazingly it did not break.

Here is the base of the table - stuck in the railing.

Found this siding nail stuck in our deck railing!

Our pretty flowers were blown all around - poor things!

And here are the chimney cap pieces. The large brown rectangle is solid metal and was in the middle of our yard. The other pieces were across the street against the corn. Thank goodness the corn was up or our stuff would have been gone!

It was an interesting night and so glad it wasn't any worse!!!!

I like those nice green corn stalks in the background too!

That is crazy that the wind did that much damage in such a short amount of time.
